Geez, you would think I was some kind of Hitler or something after the comment I got a few minutes ago…

I like comments, I like the “do-follow” movement and I’m happy to help people improve their PR and traffic by putting their website URL into the URL field of the comments section… That’s what the “do-follow” movement is all about from my understanding… maybe I’m wrong though and I’m asking for guidance here…

I do have one pet peeve and that is people that do not use a name, handle or alias in the name field but instead put the name of their website there, for example “FOO ACME PRODUCTS ONLINE ORDER TODAY!”… I just hate that and if that makes me some kind of bad person then so be it. bah humbug to the lot of ya! hehe

Now I want to know, am I really being unreasonable by asking people to use a name instead of a website name in the name field? Hell, I don’t care if it is your real name or not, but FFS how about having some common courtesy and decency when you visit a personal blog…? this is not a FFA links page ya know…

Please tell me, am I out of line here? I can take gentle corrections but if you think I’m being an a-hole go ahead and tell me, I really want to know…

Edit: The bad outweighed the good. I removed the “do-follow” plugin. *sigh*

I just had a comment yesterday on MomReviews from “Internet Business Solutions”. Gee, why did his parents name him that? LOL

Sorry that people made you feel like Hitler when you were trying to do a nice thing. I agree, unless your given name is Foo Acme Products, it doesn’t belong in the name field.

That’s right, the link is important… I had no problem with the links, it was the blatant advertising I took exception to… anyway, I might change my mind later on, but for now I’m just sick of the hassle so I’m taking a little break from demanding spammers…

    Yes, I read it…

For those who just want to make money out of this, the link is more important than anything…

Oh, well, you got to do what you got to do :)

  • Anna says:

Did you read the comments that spammer made to me? lol, he said spammers don’t leave replies but he was a spammer and leaving replies so I guess his theory is wrong.

I understand you Anna and that’s why I moderate comments. You know that every time there is a good idea, there will be people with bad intentions…

I’ll remove you from my list so you won’t be bothered anymore.
If you want me to place you back on it, just drop me a line.

    Regards,
    Nick

Thanks Tina, that’s what I thought too. Hard to believe someone had the unmitigated gall to tell me there was nothing wrong with spamming me and if I didn’t like spam there must be something wrong with me. lol

I solved my spam problem by removing the “do-follow” plugin. I’m not going to deal with it.

I agree with you. Blog comments are personal, not made by a company

  • Anna says:

And they wonder why their comments always go into the Akismet spam catcher, hehe…

People have no couth. Here’s my latest:

I saw your link at http://www.feverishthoughts.com/do-follow-bloggers/ and I think it’s a wonderful thing that you remove the nofollow scriptfrom your blog.

big help for people like me to be known by google….

List of some of my blogs, if you don’t mind

Then they proceed to put all of their spam links into one comment…

Hello??? this purpose of this blog is not to help people get “known by Google”, roflmao…
